Message: Ok i just moved to CO 6500+ feet up. Well my 1999 Dakota Sport does not have any power any more, she does not want to get up and go. What do i need to do to correct this altitude problem, besides moving to a lower alt.
Thanks for the Help

So many problems > So little time

Message: Gnerally speaking, you lose 2.5-3% per 1,000 feet. Do the math on that one. It's just because the air gets thinner as you go up, and there are fewer oxygen molecules in you cylinder to make power. Have you noticed that you're a little short of breath on the stairway now?
The best way to get it back is with a blower, since that will mash a lot more molecules back in to the cylinder where they belong.

Message: make a home made Cold air intake. it only costed me $40 to make mine with excellent power gains. how many miles have you put on the truck at that altitude? because if it is less than 200 the trucks computer could still be adjusting.

Message: My cold air intake for my 2001 dakota cost 2 bucks. I got a peice of 4 inch sewer pipe about a foot and a half long and removed the cover next to my radiator on the breather box side. I removed the air horn from the air box and cut a hole to fit the pipe and ran the pipe just behind front grill. Also had to play with the ac lines in the way.

Message: Obviously, you're not going to restore your power unless it's forced induction.
However, since you can't pass a POS van, there's a problem. He's at the same altitude you are, and suffering from the same hypoxia. SOunds like there's something else going on.

Message: Could you pass that POS van at low altitude? He lost the same amount of power you did. The comparison should be the same at all altitudes.
