Subject: ladder bars IP: Logged
Message: i have been thinking about getting a universal ladder bar for my 03 4x4. i mainly only do regular driving, but i do race a little on the street against friends. I really need to control the large amount of wheel hop though. would a universal ladder bar work for mostly street driving? or is it more for racing? i was thinking about the Quarter-Max Double Adjustable Ladder Bars, or the Competition engineering ladder bar kit. any one try either?

Message: i've got the comp engineering ladder bar kit.. but i figured with a 4x4, you'd want something longer, to have more flex.

Message: Get the bars, What brand doesn't matter whatever you get will help. I have a 99 4x4 5.2 and race my friends once in a while. If your dragracing with no turns hers a little tip that will snap you off the line like you where shot out a cannon. Ofcourse you need the guts under the hood to pull this off. hookup your 4WD in high range. with front and rear wheels putting down power wheel hop will be gone and you'll be a doorhandle ahead of the other guy. Don't forget this is for racing with no turns also this does put some wear on the frontend but nothing that will break anything.

Message: haha, before i put the super swampers on, and i just had 31's i used to do the same thing, but i would put flip it back to 2wd once i got off the line, or i would convince em to run a short distance and bust thier a$$ in 4LO, on mine it would hit the rev limiter in drive just short of a 1/8th mile.

Message: OMG running 4LO in a race???
I have gotten crazy with mine in 4LO a few times, but NEVER thought of using it in a race :P
Anyway, I have the same truck and don't seem to get wheel hop at all. It just burns the tires.
Maybe I did a little bit with the stock 245 70 16's. But not with these 155 65 16's that look like a performance tire rather than a AT, but they are AT tires.
The LSD helps too.
