Subject: Spark Plugs?!?! IP: Logged
Message: What spark plugs would you guys suggest i get after installing
the MSD 6A ignition, MSD blaster coil, taylor spiro-pro 8mm
wires, Accel cap & rotor etc...
because i heard if u keep the stock ones (with over 100 k miles
on them) in (after installing MSD) they will burn out quickly...

Message: we run NGK plugs in the 88 corvette race car with essentially the same ignition. just ap em a little wider (as per MSD reccomendations) and you should be fine.

Message: Go with autolite 3923's. But plan on changing them about 3 times more with the MSD ignition. They are usually less than a dollar a plug.
Also get a 180 degree thermostat if you get the colder plugs.

Message: I tried to get the autolite 3923's, but my local auto zone told me that they do not make them any more. So I got the autolite platnum's instead.

Message: I just bought Autolite 3923's last weekend at Wal-Mart...they have a pile of them. Just over $2 for a pack of two.
Be sure to use some good hightemp anti-seize in aluminum heads (4.7).

Message: Wal-Mart must have overstocking them, cause there are no 3923s on the Autolite website anymore. Platinum only and I've been told not to use platinum with MSD. The dealer recommended NGK and that's what I got.

Message: Used plugs should be a light tan color.

My 3923s are all a nice pink.
Isn't that cool?

Message: I drive my truck hard most of the time. I have tried the autolights and the ngk. I have an msd6al. The autolights had burned the gap back 3 thousands in 3000 miles. The ngk's gap burned back 1 thousands in 3000 miles. The ngk's were a nice tan color while the autolights were kind of wet and black.

Message: Go to the local auto parts store and get the part number of "autolite truck" plugs that fits your motor. Ive used various spark plugs with my ignition setup thats identical to yours and these things are absolutely perfect. nice hot heat range, extremely consistent firing and they take some serious abuse. a couple bucks a pop too only.
