I'm pretty sure DC sets the speed limiter on the trucks according to the speed rating of the tires they leave the factory with.

as far as how to get around it. 2 ways, you can turn the key to start and hold it there or buy a Superchips tuner.

fed i dont see why you need to go a 110mph if the fastest speed limit in the US is 75mph?

try the key trick i want to make sure it works before i try it!! LOL

fed i think your speedo is just off cause you said you would race your friends jeep to a 120mph. its those damn 4.10 gears i told you not to get them!! LOL

lol, that was when 3rd gear didnt run out, now i gotta push into overdrive!! and i guess DC only set the governor in overdrive

strange huh?...so what am i supposed to do with the key trick? while the governor is kicking in turn the key? hold it on for a while or what? or just turn it?

daddio,

Superchips dont make anything for my 1993
or am i wrong?

the key trick and my idea on how it works and how to try it.

i think you will want to hold the key in the on position right before hitting the gov but dont let up until you have cross 110mph than at 111-113mph let go of the key and hold the wheel tight! :O ahh!

i think for the time the key is in the on position the computer and gov are distracted therefore letting you slip by. sneaky

yep those bmw got alot of top end. on the way home from Venture beach i was having some fun with a guy in a bmw. we were doing 90mph and he thought he could just pull away boy was he wrong even with him until 110mph and than the surf boards in the bed started going air born.

the fastest i have ever gone was in my uncles vette. we did 140mph in a neighborhood. he was drunk at the time too. this is in Vegas and he pulls out on to a main road starts swerving back and forth saying "i need to warm up the tires!" thinking he drives better drunk he spins his vette out in front of a bus. after that is when we do 140mph. this was in a 72 454ci vette and a week before that he crash it through a brick wall.

you said "we" was your mom in the car? did she know you were doing this in her car by any chance?

thats it on the horsepower :(
i bet the torque isn't much better.
if only the Germans knew how to make a engine or a truck for that matter.

i was racing home today after school and did 100mph twice. i think the truck takes 7secs to go from 55mph-100mph and thats with it never down shifting. i love my dakota but the next truck will hopefully be a rc Hemi powered Ram!:) Vroom vroom RrrRrr hemi power!!

i think the key trick is your only opition unless you get a Mopar PCM and that will set you back $200 or more. i think the key trick is the way to go.

i have tires good for 135mph hehe but those tires will never spin that fast.

I have a 1993 and got my speedo past the 125mph markings... to about 135mph. My top speed is really about 122 - 125 but I changed the rear from 3.55 to 3.92 and thats why the speedo read 135. As far as teh truck knows, it was actually going 135mph and I didnt have any kind of limiter on it.

135mph in a dakota jeez the dakota sounds like it could do 155mph with the 3.21s and set a new speed record.

i wonder how the truck would go at that speed?
