Message: his truck is a 97 and is diffently fast but the way he drives stick isn't good enough to beat me. i beat him 3 times and each time by 2 or 3 truck lengths. my truck has been running really good lately.
i think if i do plugs and wires the truck will run like new and will probably have a faster 1/4. i think the plug wires are original?

Message: That's pretty quick. I have ran a best all motor 1/8th mile of 8.33 @ 77mph, a best 125shot run of 7.41 @ 94mph. I've never been on a 1/4 mile track with the new motor but the 8.33 should be around 13 flat. What motor do you have in there? Mine is a 390ci (stroked 318) with Edelbrock rpm heads, intake and a 750cfm mighty demon carb. I'm using the Hughes engines #3742 flat tappet cam, the stroker kit was also purchased from Hughes. I have A500 tranny with a SMR rebuild kit in it and a 3500 stall with 4.10 gears. Glad too hear there are some other quick Dakotas out there.

The '03 R/T is about to shoot down into the 13's and hopefully 12's, just need the track to open up again and get enough money for wheels/slicks.

Message: My truck is a extended cab. The the all motor 8.33 run was on drag radials and the 7.41 was on 28x11.50 slicks. I just really started getting it too run good before my local track closed for the winter. The 390 makes a ton more torque than the stock 318. I was afraid that it would not like to rev but it seems very happy at my 6600 shift point. When I started taking the truck too the track and I set a goal of getting the front tires off the ground. My new goal is to get a 6 second 1/8th mile. I feel pretty confident about the 6 second goal being that the 7.41 et was ran with 10 degrees of timing retard and I've been told that was very conservative. Can't wait till March to start making some more runs.

Message: old dak
i was shocked when i won too. i have driven the car before and it is in need of a tune up. i replace the plug wires on my truck and the ones i took off were original. the truck runs much better now. i would say tenth to two tenths fast with just cheapo wires.
awesome to hear about the 390 stroker and that it still revs like crazy. really makes me want to do that. good times yall and keep those dakotas at the top. 8)
