OK, I thought most 3.9s had the 8 3/4? rear. Mine has the 9 1/4? rear. Its an 02 sxt. Any help on why this is. I mean im not complaining just wondering.

I think they played enee menee minee moe on the assembly line. I've seen some strange combos.

no dakota got the 8 3/4
they got a 29 spline 8.25 or 31 spline 9.25
the later years, the 9.25 was very common with the 3.9.

dont forget the first gens with the itty bitty rear ends :-p Not sure think it was 7 -1/2 or 7 - 3/4

the rear ends they use to put behind the 318 Duster were pathetic. i think they were a 9 bolt

a 9 bolt??? haha..
some earlier dakotas had 7.25 rear but it was usually the 4 cylinders and very few V6s.
a duster either had a 7.25, or a 8.25 or the 8.75.
