Why would you care what anyone else thinks how your
truck sounds?

This subject has been beat to death again and again
and again. Find the muffler YOU like the sound of
best and go with it! What anyone else thinks doesn't
matter, It's your truck...............

I put a flowmaster on my 2009 Dodge Dakota 4.7L 4x4 Quadcab. I am in California and had to leave the cat's on but sounds great! Left Factory Pipeing and added a Gibson 4" tip...Very Pleased.

I bought a Magnaflow 15523 cat back kit for my 2010 Dakota LongHorn 4.7. Magnaflow sizes the connection to the cat at 2.5" Unfortunately my Dakota has a 2.75" cat outlet. Magnaflow customer service says they have had this complaint before but still don't make a 2/75 pipe. Solutions offered were a refund on the kit or take it to a shop and have the pipe stretched. So much for do-it-yourself. Caveat Emptor

I have a 1996 Tahoe with true dual flowmasters. Its a good rumble when crusing and ideling but if you rev with the back doors open it has a rumble with a hint of cackle and sounds like a beast. Piece od advice** remove cat! Makes a huge difference in sound and power!

Flowmasters have great sound quality but blow in the performance department. flowmasters especially like the 40 series, is a chambered muffler. chambered mufflers are restrictive to exhaust flow. you want a muffler that has a through design to increase air flow effeciency. examles such as the dynomax vt, some of the magnaflows and the dynomax ultra flow ss. these are great mufflers for sound quality and performance.

Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster dynos always show much more horsepower for the Magnaflow. Flowmaster is a little better than stock and sound pretty good, specially on trucks. Sound is always depending on the listener. I like the magnaflow straight thru sound and an extra 7 or 8 HP is nice too! I have my friends rear wheel dyno for his ford pickup, done same day only changing Flowmaster 40's for Magnaflow Street series. Magnaflow gained 8 RWHP and 10 rear wheel torque.

I drive a 2003 Chevy Silverado LS with the 5.3 Vortec V8. I don't need anything that will blow someone's ears out, but I do like the bite that I hear on my friend's magnaflows when he really hits it. What would be the most glaring difference between flowmasters and magnaflows? I'm leaning toward the magnaflows, but I am still undecided. Do the flowmasters rumble better at idle and low rpm?

Cameron to answer your question on the flowmasters.
It would depend on what series flowmaster you chose.
The 50's series have a nice sound but more mellow
rumble, While to 40's series are louder and more
aggressive sounding.
