Subject: Crunching tranny

I have just started to notice when i first start up my truck and accelerate there is a crunching noise that sounds like its comming from the tranny. My truck has 130,000 miles but the tranny shift firm and never slips.

If you mean step on the gas while out of gear and cluch out, I'd guess front trans bearing > Same situation with cluch in > Throw out bearing > If while driving gowith first sujestion and add the posibility os a cluster gear bearing > This is all providing yuo have a standard > You really need to give infermation to get right advice

I have an auto tranny. I can only hear it when I lightly accelerate and only about for 5 minutes then the sound will go away. I was thinking that it could be the front U-joint. I will have to check it tomarrow.

I dated a tranny once. He/she wouldn't crunch, but they munched really loud.
