mach something....i went to europe on one of those really fast planes. in the truck, 105 mph (damn limiter). on a bike, 120 mph (got scared, wasn't wearing protectives, just helmet).

I have gotten my dak up to 130, thanks to SuperChips
1st gear will take me to 35 mph @ 5,000 rpms,
2nd gear will get me to 60 @ 5,000 rpms,
3rd gear will get me to about 90 @ 5,000 rpms,
4th gear probably 110 - 120, then 5th gear, who knows. crazy s**t when you get up that fast, I never pay attention to how fast I am going when I shift into the 4th and 5th gears, so those speeds are roughly a guestimation, but 1st gear will do 35 without going over 5,000, same with 2nd going to 60 at 5,000. I ain't ever going 130 again, it is too scary, the truck starts shaking, cause it sits high being a 4x4 and all.

My '02 took a while to come back below 120 when I released the key. My new 4.7 6-speed isn't as fast!? I drove my '85 Mustang GT at 140 in Germany almost daily for seven years and stayed to the right so I wouldn't slow down the fast cars!!!

Funny. Back when I was 16, 17 I'd take cars to 150 all the time to where you thought the front end was FLOATING.
Now I'm to paranoid about sh*t to do it very often. I once took my Dak to 130 and then backed off. It hadn't hit the limiter which should be about 140 now.

I took my Stang up to 140mph but it has Z rated tires. I would never attempt much over 100mph in my Dak with tires that arent rated, if you loose a tire at that speed your history.
something to think about next time you take your truck that high, most truck tires arent rated for speed.

In my '04 3.7 manual, it was pulling hard at 90 in 4th gear when I let off. I wouldn't take it over 100 or so on the road as the tires aren't rated. I plan on taking it to the drag strip one of these days...
The fastest I've ever DRIVEN was in a '02 Porche 911 Carerra 4. It was rolling about 160 when I backed off.
My most exciting drive was around 110 in a '71 454 powered 'vette. That was scary- no power brakes on that car. And it had the "low compression" 454 in it.

same here in 72 vette 454 135mph with my drunk uncle behide the wheel. funny thing is he spun out in front of a bus and almost killed us. 135mph the front end lifts off the ground. safe car chevy built.

Ha, yeah the car has plenty of go, just not enough stop or corner. It was also pretty neat how the mirrors folded in at 70. I think that had more to do with the restoration shop than anything though.

Two things have stopped me from going faster. One, I don't have speed rated tires and two, the front end was getting too light.
For Minnesota I should add a third. After telling some guys about my 137.6 mph run someone mentioned that Minnesota recently passed a new law. The penalty for exceeding 100mph is now an automatic one year suspension of your license and, I believe, a $1000 fine.
It seems like a stupid law because it doesn't distinguish between someone doing 101 in a 70 mph zone and someone going 99 mph in a 25 mph school zone. Go figure.
