This really pisses me off!!!! a guy called me tonight on my way to work and said "O come out to Shreve City and race that slow little truck of yours, that thing looks like a banana." it is a 99 R/T rc. he said he would smoke me.LOL He has a v6 ford ranger, but he said his friends had 4bangers that would spank.
there a some bad little 4bangers, but none that he knows and it jsut pisses me off just to talk to him!!!

beware of the hushed exhaust POS civic though...
I just got back from Speed World (Arizona), tonight where I saw one really nice matchup- Near lane was a '66 Mustang that was BUILT. This car was beautiful, roll cage and the whole bit. In the far lane- a really crummy looking white '96 or so Civic. It came down to a 11.29 for the 'stang, and a 11.30 for the civic.
Other than that most of the ricers were ripping 16's, mostly because the guys driving them couldn't drive stick worth a damn.
Oh well, try not to let 'em bother you I guess. They piss me off too, especially the dumb people who drive them (or think that they CAN drive one).

If it's those squirlly kids that hang out at Clyde Fant Parkway go race them. I don't think all of them together have one motor. One of them has a low 14 second Mustang I think, last time I was there. Go have some fun. If they do beat you I will be up around that way around April 2006 and I'll school their slow azzes for ya. As long as I can trailer in my truck.

although im not afan of imports i do own one. i have a 93 civic hatch with a built b18 swap with a jackson racing s/c. wiht drag radials i managed a 11.9 at 125 mph. spinning quite bit. the only reason i like it is because i'm a mechanic at an acura dealer so parts are cheap, and they are easy to work on. and i also love my dakota, because there i snothing like a v-8 rumbling past your neighbors house at 6 in the morning!

Okay... lemme start by saying, I have never owned, and will NEVER own a ricer, due to the fact that I can't stand the way 90% of them act because of their cars. Just about every one of them thinks they own a car from the Fast and Furious movie..... HOWEVER.... I will not go as far to say that my Dak ('00 QC 4.7 auto 4x4) or any dak that is stock for that matter, will smoke ANY ricer. Sure we have more HP than them, but I can tell you that I have known a few people that have these cars that would totally anialate a stock Dakota. For instance, I work with a guy that has a '04 Neon SRT-4. I rode in and drove this car, and it is absolutely amazing how fast this car is for a stock 4 banger. I would never want to challenge him or any other SRT-4 at a race. Just My 2 Cents.

Craig, did you go to Speed World last night??
I went bowling with my brother last night instead. My friend should have been there with his Z28. I'll have to call him and see how it went.
Last weekend that place was a ZOO. I've never seen Speedworld so packed as I did on the 10th.
Plenty of 8 and even 7 second cars then. There was a damn Honda that managed 10's too. But it was really built and had lots of mods. Not even streetable at all.
I found that there was plenty of them sh*t boxes faster than my pig of a truck, but lots of slow ass POS ones as well a LOT slower.
Craig, do you go out there often? I only live 15 minutes away. Just south of Bell on Dysart.
I'm not sure if I've already met you or not. Let me know.

No, I don't believe we have met. Last night, Speed world was absolutely empty. There were maybe 20 cars at the most. Maybe some saturday night though, I want to take my '04 stock 3.7 down there and just see how it will do. I'm thinking 17s out of the box, but I've never actually raced at the strip before.
Might have seen the Z28, oddly enough. Not that theres any shame in this, but I saw a red Z28 get eaten by a new Mercedes SL600. That car was pretty cool. It was pulling 12.3s all night long. I think my favorite though was when a Falcon Ranchero did the burnout of a lifetime and clouded the whole track with smoke. I suspect he did it because he was racing like a Yamaha R1, and you really can't beat a crotch rocket like that unless you have big $$$ into your car. So I guess he figured he'd smoke 'em just the same.
Well anyway, I live in Wickenburg AZ, off of US60, so we're probably only 45 minutes driving from each other, depending on how fast you drive... ;-)
I just moved to AZ, so this was my first time. I plan on going often though. I love motorcycle racing, and I love the quarter mile drag.
Most of the rice there sucked, but there was a nice neon being raced by a chick I think, pulling 14s, and the aforementioned civic, which looked almost bone stock.
Grand Marquis are actually pretty exciting to drive. I always like 'em, but a lot of people don't. You should get your grandma to buy a Maurauder!

Used to own a stock Neon. Put 93 octane and a can of octane boost in it one time. Totally blew my mind how quicker it made that thing. I can't imagine how must faster the Neon SRT-4 is, but my dad (72 years old) who worked for Chrysler for 38 years took one on a test drive. He said it is amazing what that thing can do and quite scary considering how light that car is.
I'll agree with jayb...I bought my Dak for hauling stuff, not for racing, but if that's what you are into, have fun with it.

Yeah man, like i said,they are FAST! And for anyone who wants to complain about our MPG's on our dak's, check this out, my buddy that owns that SRT-4.... note the '4', which is just a turbo charged version of the neon 2.0 (may be 2.2 can't remember) my buddy is averaging 21mpg, and he's been driving pretty conservative with the gas prices we've been seeing.... plus he has to run 93 in his......that's GOTTA suck!So you've got an engine that's 1/4 the size of our's (if you have V-8) and is about 2k# lighter getting BARELY better mpg than I am getting with my QC 4.7

I was there @ speedworld on Saturday night as well. I have a black rc kadota. I raced a Magnum R/T, Ford F-250, and a black riced out RSX-S. Lost to the magnum but beat the other 2. Magnum came out @ 14.90 while I was @ 15.75 with my wife in the truck. Best run of the night was 15.6 @ 88 mph. I'm glad I killed that RSX. He got a 16.2

I think I might have seen your truck run against the Acura. I don't think that car was running too good. An RSX should be 16 capable out of the box. Of course maybe it was stock with just an annoying exhaust, but it didn't sound like it.
Neons can be cool sometimes. You know there is no muffler in the exhaust system? Just goes from a header to dual outlets to 2 resonators. I've never worked on one, but that's what I read anyway...

Well Craig, I can't speak for previous neons, newer neons or anything other than an '02 SXT. My dad has this car and it does have a muffler, if that's what you want to call it... considering it's about the size of a pencil eraser! Just for the record, no my dad is NOT a ricer, he's just a 56yr old man that wanted a car that get's 30+ mpg since he's been driving gas hogs all his life..... His neon is pretty nice though as are most "ricer" car's, until they start putting all those stupid stickers and those big-a$$ "fly away" wings on 'em.

yes, the regular neon (such as an SXT) has a regular muffler setup. Just my reading (I think it was in Car and Driver) said that there are no mufflers on the SRT4- a very unique feature.
Nothing wrong in my opinion with an econemy car, or someone who can make a civic really boil down the track, but it's the annnoying punk kids tha think they're hot with an obnoxious exhaust.

lol, she wouldn't, she loves the marquis. i enjoy it as well, like when i park on the side of road to check messages on my cell or something, people always hit their brakes thinking i'm a cop. sometimes i'll see them do it behind me, finish up with whatever i'm doing and take off fast like i'm going after them. fun as hell. i'm thinking about sneaking a few "goodies" under the hood ;-).
