I have a 94 5.2. I have a single 40 series flowmaster. Sounds good, but too quiet. I had the same setup on my silverado, except no cat and it really thundered. Performance was not hindered by removal of cat. Has anyone removed their cat and does the volume increase?

that don't matter what you asked that is the only answer that is legal to give you smart guy. In any state in the union you will be severly fined and may even forfiet your vehicle (California) for tampering with your cat.So is the less then 1/2 of 1 percent increase worth it ????????? By the way I hope you kids and grand kids choke on your exhaust fool.

Smartassdakowner strikes again. So you are a cop now? No wonder you have a grouchy disposition. Go eat another doughnut, man, and chill awhile. I think I remember you from school days. You were the guy that waited in a gang bang line for an hour only to find out it was your sister that was getting banged. Hehe. Hey! If you ain't got nothin' positive to say you should just keep your mouth shut/fingers off of the key board. Hahaha. Don't you wish that you weren't impotent. Then you to could have kids and grand kids to choke on my exhaust. AHAHAHAHA.

I've had two vehicals that I've removed some, or all, of the emmisions on. Here in Michigan we don't even test, and hell, the repair shop is the place that took the Cat off. I know COPS without cats!

For a computer controlled engine, you need to get something to fool the after-cat oxygen sensor. Check to make sure you have one, but you probally do (Check on top of the pipe between the pipe and bodywork). Someone makes something called the KatBox that does this.

Noise wise? It'll be louder. No, actually, just throatier. As for getting fined driving through Ohio? Who wants to go to Ohio anyway? (Note: Joke) The Cop would have to have a reason to climb under your vehical to look, hmm? Not like they have cameras in the road looking up, is it? As long as you obey the speedlimit and don't do anything stupid, the likelyhood of them checking is nill.

Of course, they may have started stopping everyone on the border to check their cats, but that seems like a waste of taxpayer money to me and I can't see them doing it.

Would I take the Cat off my truck? Probally not. Best advice really is to get a high-flow cat. Keeps it legal and isn't nearly as restrictive as the stock one. Of course, I'm looking into WHY I have 2 Cats in a row... er... that seems redundant as all hell. What, one is a backup or something? *L*

Does anyone know the procedure for removing the pre-cat? What should I look for, and what do I need to maintain street-legal? And Smartdakota owner, don't TELL me I need TWO cats on a single exhaust, thats just redundant!

YEah, should be fine. Without the sensor aft of the convertor, the Computer isn't even monitoring emmisions anyway. You might MEET emmisions without the cat. :0)

As long as you keep the engine in tune that is, and the rings/valve seats are ok.

I have a 92 3.9 that I have removed the cat on. My only reason for doing so is that it was hollow before (after 250000 these things happen) and I didnt like the sound it was giving. It didnt get any louder but it is throatier and it runs perfectly. Its all up to you on this one but my answer to you is it will run fine and it will sound better. To do it your going to need a piece of 3 inch pipe swedged to fit over 3inch about 22 or so inches long its a straight shot easy to do yourself.
