Subject: I expected more! Trans-Go IP: Logged
Message: I just got my truck back now with a M.P. 2400 stall converter and a Trans-Go shift kit installed. The torque converter stalls to 2400 as specified, but the shift kit is a let down. I have a 2000 5.9 R/T R.C. I had the full trans go kit (not the jr. kit)put in. My back is pooched so I relied on a friend (professional transmission mechanic) too do the job. He even pre warned me I would not be happy with it although he said it was the best on the market. I was hoping for something that shifted firmly. I've never heard an auto dak chirp the tires. is there any way to firm them up??

Message: The level 3 TransGo setup should chirp, no problem. Sounds like he put in level 1 or 2. Hell, even my 175HP Shelby would catch 2nd (mildly) with just some minor reprogramming by the Shelby people (they all had this). A lot of it has to do with tweaking the line pressure, which reminds me. Maybe the mechanic didn't set the kickdown cable correctly. It still has a job to do, and even with a full-on shift kit, if the TV cable is at a softer setting, you'll still come up short.

Message: And don't forget that a higher stall converter will bury the shift a little bit - make it softer. Which is a good thing, because when you chirp the tires, you're losing traction and it's slowing you down.
