Subject: Modds void warrenty? IP: Logged
Message: Guys I was wandering, I have had my RC Dakota 4.7 5-speed now for about a month and now I want a more aggressive exhaust tone! Would it hurt my warrenty, I have the extended 7 year one, If I put an aftermarket muffler in the stock location? Anyone done this yet? Id like opinions on what muffler would be an exact fit leaving the rest of my system alone and replacing the muffler only and well maybe a chrome tip or something? Also would I have any problems with backpressure or lack there-of with say an aftermarket muffler? How about check engine lights? Any help is surely appreciated! Thank you!

Message: The only part of your warranty that would be voided would be the part covering your muffler. Everything else would still be covered.
I don't know about an exact-fit replacement for just the muffler, but whatever you get, go with stainless steel to avoid any potential rust problems especially if you live anywhere that salts the roads or any coastal area. They are more expensive, but in my mind it's worth it. Others may disagree. I have the Gibson single cat back and I'm really happy with mine. Great fit and great sound.

A Cat-Back system will only void the warranty on the parts that it replaces...not the entire truck.
To make it easy, yes...you can replace the factory muffler with an aftermarket without worrying about voiding your warranty.

IN THE CASE OF EXHAUST IT COULD BE A YOUR CAT TO AN O2 SENSOR. NOW, I KNOW WHEN WE @ WORK SUGGEST A MODIFICATION WE TRY TO STICK WITH THOSE PERFOMANCE PARTS FOUND IN THE MOPAR PERFORMANCE CATALOG.
THIS IS NOT SAYING THAT YOU WOULD NOT GET SOMETHING REPLACED. I HAVE SEEN RT'S COME IN TO OUR SHOP WITH DOULS ON, AND HEADERS AND WE HAVE REPLACED THE CATS AND O2 SENSORS. THE TECH WAS ASLEEP I THINK
