Message: Hey spali, 14.71 with slicks. What have you done so far besides the rockers? I know my R.C. 5.9R/T ran 15.0s bone stock.

Message: Idano and Spali, thanx for that insight. I've been mulling over this upgrade for a while now. Now I'm convinced. As soon as I get my Cobra all sorted out, I'll be swapping the rocker arms and throttle body on my truck. I don't race it, but I do tow with it. And, of course, there's the occasional stop light battle.......

Message: Yes, 14.711 with slicks and it's a 2001. I was 15.7 when I was stock. I have so far a 52mm Fastman throttle body, Mopar PPH ceramicoated headers, a Magnaflow hi flow cat, Mopar M-1 w/large turtle, Harland Sharp 1.7 roller rockers, Spintech 3" 3441 muffler, B&G M-1 Flash(5400rpm shifts now), Jacobs Pro Street Ignition, Taylor 8mm red wires, All Amsoil products thru engine, trans, and rearend. My 14.711 was made at 2pm and 86 degrees outside. I made the mistake of filling my truck up and had at least 18gal of fuel I was carrying around. My tranny doesn't shift at full throttle from 1st to 2nd gear so I had to get off the gas once I reached 5300 rpms and then step back down into it for it to shift. My stock VB shifting solenoid from 1st to 2nd gear is shuttering and is not working properly. A performance martin saine VB is next.....$300. So as you could see, I should be able to go faster.......maybe at least a 14.2 or so.

Message: .boB, keep in mind if you do a lot of towing you'll be much happier with a ported 50mm TB. I went with a 52mm to work with my other mods and I don't tow either. A 50mm will give you more low end torque vs the 52mm which will give you more high end HP and not as much torque off the line.

Message: Yup, that's the plan: stock ported 50mm. Even though it's EFI, you still need to keep the intake velocity high. It's not very common for this engine to see more than 3,000 rpm's. But it see's 11,000 feet in altitude pretty often.

Message: .boB,
You'll be happy with the 1.7's.
Since you're not worried about raising your rev limiter and shift points, have you tried the Crank position mod to increase your ignition timing? That might give you enough extra mid-range grunt that you could forgo the programmer or flash.

Message: I used the Hypertech programmer a couple of years ago. Remarkable improvement from that; I should have done that a lot sooner.

Message: well I finally got my 1.7 RRs. I chose the M.P. ones (I'm A Chrysler employee, I get them at cost. $375 for the kit) Any suggestions on setting them up. I've done a fair number of chevy's and was told to install them the same way. But no where does it say whether to adjust them with the motor running or while it's off. (for the preload)Usually with the chev's we do it while the engine is running. You back them off till they rattle a bit then tighten them till they quiet down. from there it's 3/4 of a turn for preload. Just wondering as it's not really specified.

Message: I'm not sure about the Mopar ones but if they are non adjustable like mine(Harland Sharps). You just take off the stock ones put the new bushing under the new rocker and use the bolt to go down thru it and torque it down to 20-25 ft lbs. If they are adjustable ones then you'll have to adjust them, which I'm not up to date on installing them
