Subject: RR's and stock pushrods?? IP: Logged
Message: Hi, I am putting a cam, Comp Cam RRs and various other performance parts on my 3.9 right now. Problem is I just realized I didnt receive my Hi-performance pushrods from KRC, they are backordered. I have new stock pushrods, will they work or will I destroy them?
Thanks
Dave

Message: The problem with the stockers is they are thin-walled and at higher lifts, and higher engine speeds, they will tend to bow a lot, and all this generates valvetrain noise and harmonics that will damage the engine over time. Also, when the rods bow, they cut into the net lift on the cam, so you lose some of the performance you just added. Get the better pushrods.

Message: Some manufacturers claim that you don't need different rods unless you are cranking more than 5500 rpm. However, good rods are cheap insurance.
