I was looking a KRCPerformance and saw that they have a new 224 dual overhead camshaft and I haven't seen any posts on it. I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet and how they liked it. In the future (could be a few years) I'm going to get a supercharger. I am going to be changing out the cams soon however and I'm trying to decide on which one. Will the regular 224 run with a supercharger? Will the supercharged 224 run without a supercharger? What would all of you recommend????? Maybe just settle with the 218? I have a 2001 4.7 RC dakota. I plan on major modifying as the money comes in. Any info. would help.

Jason

Because most of the time you go to the source, and they tell you what you want to hear to sell a product..and I am guessing that you are the .1% that can tell him what he needs to know but instead you have to slam everyone else and not be a nice guy and give him the answers to his Q's..Maybe your the clown???

OK,I feel better, time to get off my soapbox..

I e-mailed them at the tech support (before making this post) and they told me to call and talk to marty. I don't know about you guys, but I don't have all the time in the world to call long distance and talk to someone that I've never met. I've heard on this site that Marty is a good guy and can help, but I figured I could just ask my question here and get the same type answer (guess I was wrong) because of people like whoever didn't have the balls to type their real name and used "WTF?" instead. And if that is your real name, couldn't you have been more creative? Could someone with some helpful info please reply.

Apparently WTF is one of the 99.9%. We all know clowns don't have answers, just smart remarks.

The answer should be obvious. You can run either cam, but why would you want to run a cam designed for supercharged engines and not supercharge the engine or run an NA designed cam and then decide to supercharge the engine. It isn't a question of whether or not it will work. It is a question of which is the optimum cam for your application. "A few years" is way too far in the future. Since it is an DOHC you have an advantage. They are easy to install yourself. If you really think it will be "a few years," buy the optimum cam for that duration. Then if and when you decide to change your set up, sell the cams for about 60-70% of what you got into it and install the next level. Even if you took a 50% lose, $375, it is a small price compared to the use you got and the total cost of a supercharger package.

Anyway was right, they may tell you what you want to hear. The trick is to ask the right questions or just ask them to tell you the pros and cons of each. Just don't be surprised if they answer your question with the same way I did, WHY?

Thank you N56629. That was pretty much the answer I was looking for. I know that I will have a supercharger one day, but when is another question. I want to do everything else to make sure when I add the supercharger the engine is ready for it. I don't have the income that allows me to pay $750 for cams and $4000 on a supercharger at the same time. Thanks.
