currently I have a 01 Dakota CC 4x4 5 - Speed with a 4.7 3.55 rear, I have 80,000 miles on my truck,

I have a few mods on now, not too serious though

HO Cams, Intake, Headers, 70mm TB, and Flowmaster Exaust,

what should I get next?

SuperChips Tuner?

ASP Crank Pulley?

or Both?

Assuming your goal is to make it quicker, not faster, swap to 3.92 or 4.10 gears. Best bang for the buck, even if you have to do it twice.

Then get a custom chip to match your components.

ok, thanks, Gears are a little out of my league., I can't afford them now,

so I will go with the Tuner and Pulley.

since I have 80,000 miles on it now, I am just going to wait when I buy a new truck, I will have low gears already from the factory, just to avoid the hassle.

.boB is that what you did. 3.92 to 4.10? I've been wanting to do this myself but a lot have been saying it is too little of a jump to tella difference, what can you tell me?

No, mine is stock with 3.92.

The differance between 3.55 and 3.92 would be very noticable; that's about a 10% increase. Going to a 4.10 is almost 15%.

I just wished I had the money, that is why I am probably going to get a Hemi Ram, with 3.92s stock, or possibly a 2500 Ram Reg Cab 4x4 HEMI with 4.10s.

I am at the point where i don't really care for quickness, I just want a bigger truck.

I would get a Cummins 600 HO, but I can't afford it.

I wish my brother waited to get a different Dak, from the lot back when he bought the truck I have now, in 2001.

it was a Reg Cab 4x4 with a 5 - speed, 4.7, and 3.92 Lsd.

if he did, man o man, it would have been sweet.

that setup, with the cams, Intake, TB, Headers, and Exaust that I have now, would sweet.

but I thank God everyday for the extra room in the Club Cab.

most trucks off the lot are 3.55s aren't they>?

because most normal people, besides us Gear heads, want higher gears for better gas mileage, and they don't haul alot of stuff around.

I don't mind having 3.55s, because with the cams, they had a little more low end, but I know that with 4.10s, it would be insane.

You can lower the effective gear ratio by reducing the tire diameter as well. If you reduce the diameter by 1" increments, the PCM can be flashed to accomodate the speedometer setting easily enough.

I had a 4X4 Hemi ram 2500 with 4.10's. It got 13 miles a gallon on the highway. good luck with that. It was a quad cab though but reg wont do much better.

how bout power ED, is the Hemi pretty powerful?

I mean, it isn't a Cummins 600, but still is it peppy?

also to note, my truck has 32s on it now, so if I go back to the 265 / 70, It should give my low end back a little.

uh, ok, well,

Let me tell you a little something, "2sexy4mydak", I wasn't talking about getting a HEMI Ram right away.

down the road, maybe, but I am just in the thinking stage. I checked Kbb, and they stated that a retail on a 2003 Hemi 2500 Ram 4x4, Reg Cab, base package, and all, not too bad mileage, at 18 or 19 grand.

which is in my price range.

Hell no I am not getting an 05 or 06, and for the gears, I know that if I put them in my Dak it would be about a 1,000 dollar Job, and since my truck has 80,000 miles on it, I don't think I should be putting that much in it, it might not last another 80,000.

so, well, I hope you understand.

I can't afford Gears now, but after a few more paychecks, and I get some of my money that I invested in the stock market, then I can get gears, or put a nice down payment on a new HEMI Ram, or some property. I can probably trade my Dak in for about 12,000. (since I bought it for 15,000 with 65,000 miles).

you should have read a little closer "2sexy4mydak", I said "I can't afford them now"

I was speaking in a future tense, about the Ram.

I hope I cleared up some things for you, if you are a little slow.

also I'd like to state that I am not in the 6th grade, I am a Junior in College. and I work 3 Jobs,

I work for my Brother's Landscaping buisness, and I work on my uncle's Farm, and I get about 40 hours a week working at Food Lion, (just a college Job)

I work over 60 hours a week.

just to let you know. I can afford a Hemi Ram, if it is used, I can't if it is new.

My brother told me not to get new gears because it was a waste of money, he said save your money up for a house, or something that will gain value as the years go by. so, now, I am very skeptical in what I want to buy for my 2001 Dakota, with 80 k miles.

I will get that 2500 Ram Hemi, and i will use it for the buisness, my brother uses his cummins for strictly buisness, so that is what I want to use my 2500 Ram for, when I get it.

Still, again, I will repeat that I hope I cleared some things up for you.

also I'd like to ask

have you always been a Jackass? or did you have to work on it?

my other uncle owns an investment firm, and he handles all of my money, I gave him about 5 grand of money that was given to me by my grandfather, but I can't touch it till I am 21, I am 20 right now. so, one more year.

I could afford gears, (even though I said I can't right now)

here is the clincher. 2sexy4mydak , I DON'T KNOW IF ANOTHER 1,000 DOLLARS IN A TRUCK THAT IS ALMOST 5 YEARS OLD, AND HAS 80,000 + MILES SUCH A GOOD IDEA.

I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER MY DAK WILL LAST, PLUS GEARS WILL JUST MAKE MY GAS MILEAGE EVEN WORSE.

I NEVER INSISTED ON GETTING GEARS IN THE FIRST PLACE, ONE GUY ABOVE RECOMMENDED IT.

I STILL HAVE 1200 DOLLARS INSURANCE EVERY 6 MONTHS, AND TRUCK PAYMENTS,OF WHICH I AM ALMOST DONE PAYING OFF.

NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY, A FARM JOB IS REAL WORK, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW,

ALSO WORKING FOR MY BROTHERS LANDSCAPING BUISNESS IS REAL WORK AS WELL. THERE IS GOOD MONEY IN THAT, IF YOU PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT.

JUST TO AVOID ALL OF THESE ASININE COMMENTS, I COULD HAVE JUST SAID THAT I WILL BUY GEARS, AND NOT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT BUYING A HEMI RAM, BESIDES I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT BUYING ONE, I DON"T KNOW IF I WILL.
