Subject: Timing chain IP: Logged
Message: I went to the local parts store and bought a double roller timing set, thinking the double roller was performance oriented. When I took the timing cover off I was surprised to see the stock timing chain was 5 (or 7) links across. So back to the parts store I went. I never would have guessed that the 318 would have such a heavy duty timing set.

Message: Actually, the stock timing chain is a POS-- and stretches quite a bit.
If you have over 50k miles, most likely your chain has some serious slop in it... Mine did.
I swapped in a JP chain when I did my cam.
Only brand I sell or would recommend.
