Hey fellas I just installed my FIPK kit on my 04 quad cab 4.7 and When I cold start the engine I can really hear the engine "drawing air" when I let the engine warm about 45 seconds the filter sound like it quiets down a bunch. It this a normal effect? also the sensor that I had to put into the fipk tube (don't know the name of it) seems to not lock in very well with 3/4 inch hole and rubber gromet. Is there a socket that I can buy to twist lock the sensor into. is the corner of the elbow the right location for the sensor? So many questions so little time :) ALSO any good links on how to port TB with pictures! Thanks you guru's

P.S. duel flowmaster catback installed also

I have a FIPK Gen II on my 2001 Dakota 4.7L, it just keeps on sucking air. when at idle.

It is loud, just a constant sucking sound. but not like what you would hear when you Mash the gas, or shift, then gas.

IT sounds normal to me., mine does quiet down some.

but that 70mm TB I installed screws up the idle every so often, or falls below normal, and the sucking changes some.

is the sensor that you installed the IAT ? from the TB?
if Not, then I can't help you at the moment.

My brother installed the FIPK and everything else when he owned the truck, I just bought it from him.

I like the truck, but man, Gas is killer, I guess you gotta pay if you want power.

The sound you hear is normal. The idle air control motor is adjusting the idle and that's what you hear. The sensor you described moving is the intake air temp sensor. You can actually put it anywhere in the tube but the closer to the filter will give best performance. Don't know of an adapter to mount it better in the tube. You could always silicone it in but go easy with the silicone cause if you ever have to take it back out it would be more difficult. No pix for porting but it's simple enough. Just look down the throttle body and you will see it gets smaller as it gets closer to the throttle blade. Just carefully die grind it out till it's all the same diameter throughout. Be real careful though because aluminum disappears fast and too much could cause less flow. Best to use the porting kit Summit sells that use the fine grit emery rolls.

Hey MoparDak, Did it take you long to install the HO cams and where did you find them the cheapest? I also wanted to ask you about the porting on the TB, you think this will make me loose more low end power ? I have heard a few people say that this causes some bad effects, whats your opinion.

You should not loose low end grunt with a ported throttle body. You need to only do some grinding to get rid of the torque step lip on the factory throttle body. Do not go near where the throttle blade closes.
