Message: I've seen many done. But I haven't done mine yet.
I have the FACTORY hitch.
However, I'm more wanting to dump it on either side by the rear tires. That's even MORE difficult due to the gas tank.
The reason i want it on the SIDES, is revenge against them fart can power tinker toy sh*t box Ricers! With a set of glass packs and side outlet exhaust on either side, i should be able to rattle their brains a bit! ![](http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/obscene/eck05.gif)

Imagine on a cold morning seeing your exhaust coming out of that square hole.

Message: What about side pipes?
Re-route those exhaust pipes outboard on each side, and hook 'em to side pipes.
It might sound funny, though, because of the weird firing order of the V8 engine.
And where would you put the step bars.
Nevermind...

Message: I had a Gibson cat back system (Guess I'm a Poser). Anyway, it fit with my hitch and no modifications. I didn't like the sound, too much resonance and switched to a Flowmaster. I've since converted it back to stock.

Message: 4.7L does not run good with dual exhaust, you must be able to create 300hp to the rear wheels in order for it to run right, that motor needs backpressure. Otherwise your killin your motor.

Message: I don't mean to say you're wrong, but... you're wrong. For one thing, adding cat back duals is not going to reduce back pressure much, if at all. It's just for looks and sound. Your muffler and catalytic converter are the bottleneck, not the tailpipe. Also, 4.7's do benefit from "freeing up" the exhaust by changing cat & muffler without changing the tailpipe. It's been dyno proven by many.

Message: Yeah, I don't really understand what the problem with "fake dual exhaust" is...just because we don't want our trucks to sound like straight-piped, underwater Chevys. Gibson "fake dual exhaust" sounds really good so congrats to the poser with that on his truck!

Message: I'm just saying, WHY bother putting going through all that with the dual pipes on either side if it's not real?
There IS a difference in sound. No mantter how some will argue.
Them single in dual outs have a weird HOLLOW/EMPTY sound. Think I'm crazy, but I can always TELL by listening to a truck with one of them exhausts on them.
Then listen to a truck with seperate duals from the headers back. It sound fukkiing awesome.
Listen to a dime a dozen dual exhaust Mustang (5.0 OR 4.6). Most trucks don't have anyting on a Mustang's sound.
I don't know. Maybe it's because I grew up in a non emission testing area before moving to phoenix and had true dual exhaust on many vehicles and so did so many other people I know.
And as far as duals on a 4.7 it would be FINE. You just need to SIZE it accordingly. But guarenteed it will be an improvement if not just as good.

Message: Two small????
It's in the sizing and design.
Look at FORD 302's and 4.6's. Duals all day long straight from the factory!!!
I know I come across as a jack ass with the TRUE duals. It's just that in MY opinion, NOTHING sounds as good. It just doesn't.
Plus you get that THROATY STEREO sound instead of a hollow sound from split single systems.

Message: Waht about a system with a Y pipe after the cat flowing into 2 mufflers. My friend put this on, and I was amazed. It was ridiculous....and it was a Honda. I think I'm gonna get a Flowmaster 40, single in, duel out, going into 2 Dynomax Super Turbo 17748, and then place two turndowns right after the muffler. I'm just trying to imagine the sound, and if the backpressure will be out of whack. Im thinking it will not, since it's all coming from a 2.5" pipe after the cat.
I'm going to be doing this install soon I believe. Hopefully I will not be wasting $250, but I think this setup will be extremely impressive.

Message: Actually, I run a catless single in/dual out on my RT. The guy at the shop who does it (the best in the area) says that the backpressure in that set-up is far better than a true dual set up, which I wanted. I asked him what proof he has, and he stated that not only did he learn that in school, but he has seen it work everyday in Camaros and Mustangs his shop builds.
