I just wanted to know if the K&N FIPK cold air intake part# (57-1509-1) which K&N lists for use with 97-99 dakotas with a 5.2 will work on my 96 5.2 dakota. I do not see why it would not work, because they are essentially the same engine, does any one know if this will work?

it depends, cubic size is identical but the overall underhood setup for instalation may be different. ie. bracket set up points may not match that of a 97 or 98

thanks for the info, I was just wondering, because the FIPK that K&N makes for the 96 is just an open air intake, they report it adding 6hp where as the 97-99 FIPK is a true cold air intake and adds 10 hp, I was just wondering if any one has tried this before
What kind of results do you gen 2 guys feel with the K&N FPIK open element filter?
