I have a 97 v6 5-speed RC, 2WD. With my G-tech I measured a stock 1/4 mile at 17.08 to 17.11, added home made intake, and Gibson cat-back ran the truck two more times and got 16.7, 16.78. Thought cool picked up almost 4 tenths. Then I added the flowmetrics 48mm TB, ran the truck a few more times, 16.7 again. Moved the IAT sensor to the intake tube, re-ran, more 16.7 passes. Changed the plugs to the 3923, added the 180 t-stat, re-ran and still 16.7, WTF. I reset the PCM every time, run premium, same amount of gas each time 1/4 tank. I just can't figure out why I didn't pick up anything, especially with the TB, expected to be under 16.5 worst case, and around 16.2 best case, any ideas?

I'm no expert but I'd let the PCM learn the mods over a 100 miles or so. The intake and exhaust would give you an instant change, however the TB would probably take a little while for the PCM to "learn" and give more fuel.

the TB was put on Wed night, last testing was done Sun night, approx 200 miles later, wonder if I am keeping it in third too long, shifting to 2nd about 5300, 3rd about 5200, to 4th, well I usually don't make it to 4th

The problem may very well be in your driving. You have probably adapted your style and reactions to get the most out of your V-6 the way it used to be. With the new power, you will probably need to adjust your shifts to be able to use it. Remember that regardless of the amount of power, you have only a certain speed at any rpm in a certain gear. Depending on where your truck makes the best power, you need to feel your way into shifting where you can move the fastest. I have an automatic with about the same mods as you, and I can tell very certainly that the throttle body made a world of difference, just according to my butt, and a hill I like to run for tests. My truck seems to gasp a little if you go past 4800, so I would try shifting a little lower on the rpms.

Just my two cents worth!!!
