Message: Hey guys I'm a total newbie when it comes too engines and performance. (this darn 4.7 is really getting me intrested :) But I would like a break down on your guys acronyms WOT,IAT, TB , H.O. etc.... If anyone could post a list. would help me alot. The only thing on my 04 quad is a new flowmaster 40 duel setup. makes my truck sound mean as hell! I just want to start adding some horsepower now. What should be my next upgade TB or cams? or intake? (also is K&n worth the money or should I just find a knockoff brand for intake?

Message: WOT = wide open throttle, somtimes referred to as WFO = wide f'in' open.
IAT =intake air temperature - a sensor
TB = throttle body
IAC = idle air control, located in TB
TPS = throttle position sensor, also on TB
HO = high output; a more powerful version of the 4.7 originally offered in Jeeps, soon or now available in Dak (Dakota).
I'd suggest HO cams for your next mod if you can handle the installation; most of the torque gain of the whole HO package by just swapping cams.
I think K&N FIPK is best intake, but this mod is only more power at the highest RPMs. K&N worked on this for a while and didn't release it til they could dyno a gain; most others either don't have dyno or it is in conjunction with a freer flowing exhaust. You'll notice more intake noise from any cold air intake; many favor the home brew variety for its low cost.
Lots more info on all this stuff on this site if you use the search function, have fun with your mods !

hehe... welcome to the site... I've been a visitor for well over 2or 3 years... can't remember.. all the gas fumes have rotted my brain! Many of my mods have started here, and the last thing I'd like to say is "the only stupid question is the ones you don't ask", and NOONE knows everything, so its good to ask everyone once in a while...

Message: The formula for figuring liters to cubic inches is: liters X 61. So 3.9l X 61 = 237.9. I think there's a fraction attached to the 61, but I've never been able to memorize it.

Message: Close enough, as they say. It's rather meaningless to run equations with numbers that have differing amounts of significant digits - for example, since the # of liters is already rounded off, its fairly nonsensical to multiply a rounded off # by a # with six decimal places as Ed did. His answer works to convert exactly 3.9 liters; but the Mopar 3.9 the question referred to isn't exactly 3.9 liters.
