Message: Question...so I now have my 2.5" dual stainless with Magnaflow and my K&N cold air intake, and things are great. I'm now looking at a throttle body spacer. I've seen a few on ebay, but wanted to know what type of gain I can get from a mod like this, can anyone shed some light on this. As well, is this something that I can do in my garage or should I be getting a "skilled" mechanic to do this? thanks for any info. The one I was looking at is:

Message: There is some debate, but most agree that a TB spacer is useless on a dakota. Do a search on here there is a ton of posts covering why they don't work. In short save your money or buy something else. If you do decide to buy one the install is real simple. You just unbolt the TB put in the spacer and gaskets then bolt the TB back dowm with longer bolts.

Message: if you have a 3.7 or 4.7 i have read some claims that a spacer will do some good but, if you have a 3.9, 5.2 or 5.9 don't get it. something about the diff in design on the manifolds and /or engines.
if you have some simple handtools and some mechanical aptitude, you should be able to do it. maybe invest in a Haynes manual.(20 bucks)

Message: I heard that only carb motors work with spacers. as far as fuel injection goes. its nothing more than a paper weight. save your money unless you want an expensive paper weight.

If you take a look at the runners inside a kegger manifold there's no way it can work. If you have a carburator, throttle body injection, or maybe an m1 single plane manifold you could see some gains. On a stock magnum engine with the kegger manifold and multi port injection.......don't waste your money.

Message: No debate here. Tried and rejected. It's useless. Dont' believe us? Do a dyno test on your truck now. Install the spacer. Duplicate the testing conditions at the dyno. Did you see a difference?
Our engines are bottom feeders. The TB only passes air. Putting on a spacer only serves to increase the volume of the intake. However slightly. You don't want to do that anyway.
