Message: im planning on doing my own cat back exhaust system. I was planning on going with 3" pipe from cat back however, with a performance muffler likely a magnaflow round muffler, is going with 3.5" piping gonna make it significantly louder?

Message: Shouldn't, but 3.5" piping is overkill. It's just too much.

Message: Stick to 2.5 if ur n/a anything bigger will actually make u lose power unless u have some serious power adders

Message: Most catback systems seem to be a single 3" or dual 2.5 inches from cat to the end. Depends on which way you want to go

Message: 3.5" pipe? Are you driving an 18 wheeler?
Unless you are supercharging you don't even need 3" pipe. 2.5" is big enough.

Message: Oh forgot, 3" will make it louder not to mention that muffler helping out too.

Message: What engine? 318/360 get the best benefit from a 3" pipe.

Message: I added a ramair hood, and Mopar Perf PCM, which got me 2 mph in the quarter. When I added headers, with 2&1/4 dual exhausts (dual cats and dual Flowmaster muffler) I lost lowend power (1 mph in the 1/4), but my mileage went from 14.5 to 16. Too much exhaust started to "lean" my engine.
