Message: A bigger cam will move your power band to a higher RPM. Even the KRC 200 cams might not be the right answer for a 4x4 because you want your power band right off idle, not starting at like,,, 1200-1500 rpm.
Give KRC a call and ask them for thier recommendation for a 4x4.

Message: I am running the HO camS bought from KRC and I noticed a SIGNIFICANT amount of low-end power once they were installed. I added a Superchips tuner to that and together they make me very happy with my 2wd 104k mile 2000 CC.
KRC lists their low-end power cam as:
KRC 4.7L/200 Dual Overhead Camshafts
200/212-480/436 111 Camshafts designed for low-end and great midrange gains. This kit includes both left and right cams, the installation tool, and full installation instructions.

Message: Doh,,, should have looked before I lept. The 200's are the low end cams good for 4x4's.
Izzy, which KRC cam grind did you go with?

Message: I believe KRC's 200 cam is the same as the factory HO cams. Should be the best for your heavier QC; felt like more torque through the whole range in my truck.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: I own KRC along with Marty and I have HO cams in my own 4.7 4x4. 206's are a great choice and do make a bit more power but bang for the buck, you can't beat the 200's.

Message: DSW, I have the 200's (HO cams) and had Marty put them in. He did it in like under 2 hours if I remember right but then again he knows that engine like the back of his hand.
Like I said above, I added a Superchips tuner to that and together they make me very happy.

Message: 'Bout what are ya'll paying for a decent set of cams? I'm thinking of doing a true dual exhaust, headers, and a new set of cams sometime in the near future when I have money. I was looking on Summit and the prices ranged from like $100 - $800.

Message: Hey billy. Since you guys probably know alot about them 4.7's by now I thought I'd ask how bullet proof they seem to be as far as building them up with a stock bottom end and all.
Are they as strong as the old 318's?

Message: Germ,
After tax, I paid in the neighborhood of $267 and some change for the KRC 200's but they have gone up in price since then. I think they are just over $300 now but after seeing the difference they made on my 104k mile truck, I would have paid over 300 anyway.

Message: The 4.7 is pretty strong. Factory pistons are a weak point, as they were on the 318/360 when you run boost or spray.
