Message: Hawker, did you look through those 697 hits for you answer yet? Sorry, some people seem to have stock in google or they have nothing better to do. If everyone spent their time doing exhaustive research, there would be no questions on this or any other forum.
You can use either one if you don't have an egr. Just plug the unused hole or add a turtle.

yours will be a non egr, egr, was pre 1998, I think... so, 1997 and earlier had egr.

Message: EGR was through 1995 model year. It was no longer required when OBDII came online with the 1996 model year.

Message: You can expect around 25 horsepower to the wheels. That's playing it safe. Depending on traction and other modifications you should drop .2-.5 tenths off of your previous times. If you don't mind, could you let us know what you have done and your times?

Message: If you think that you might put a turtle in the intake, get an EGR one. The intakes are the same, the EGR just has a threaded hole at the bottom for the EGR passageway. On a non-EGR truck you just put a pipe plug in it to block it off. The EGR versions also seem to be easier to find.

Message: egr version for some reason or another is made better. less casting flaws and such ive heard. added bonus of the egr version... if you need to sell it ever, the potential buyer market will be bigger, because the guys that actually have that system could use it
i have a 99 r/t, and bought the egr one for this reason. a year later i read somewhere about the quality differences.
