Subject: valve spring removal IP: Logged
Message: im removing my valve springs on my 4.7l would a regular t handle valve spring remover work? or do you have to use dodges special spring remover? also the lash adjusters how are they on a spring also? how is the lash adjusters attached to the head? thanks for the help! im gonna find out soon enough but im trying to make sure i got the wright stuff for when i get started.

Message: You failed to mention if your removing the valve springs with the heads installed on the truck or off > Can be done either way but you need to hold up the valve or it will drop into the cylender > they make a tool screws into your spark plug hole and you hook a compresser to it keeping constant air flowing into the cylender all the time till back together > then on to the next one > remove your PC valve and dip stick to give plenty a relief for the air going into the crank case.

Message: the heads are going to be on! im asking becouse it look's like there is not much room for a standard valve spring remover. this is from pics ive seen i have'nt pulled the valve covers off yet.

Message: I bought my on the engine valve spring compresser from NAPA about 40 years ago > It works anywhere I tried it from the tightest fit engines to small lawn type motors > No clue if there still available Also I made my sparkplug hole compresser fitting > Actually made 3 a them for differant size plug holes Oh > This spring compresser is with in half an inch of fitting in my hand and has 2 legs and a hand wheel tO TURN IN AND OUT ABOUT 2 1/2 inches across
