 Subject: IAT relocate question.

99 Dak Sport, 3.9V6...want to relocate IAT..thinking of buying new IAT and installing it in air box..then just moving wires and leaving orig IAT where it is. Question is this...if I disconnect wires to IAT will this cause trouble codes that would need to be cleared. Also...how will this mod affect emissions?

It will set off a code if you do it while the key is in the on position. Do it while the key is out, and no problem.

It will increase HC emissions, along with power, because it makes the computer think the air is colder and needs to run richer, so it does enrich the mixture.

thanks guys...I guess keeping the old IAT where it is has its advantages...this way come inspection time I can just switch the wires back and viola...normal emissions again and no 'reject' sticker...AH good ol New Jersey...gotta love it.
