Subject: Engine running lean IP: Logged
Message: I just recently "gave my truck a tune up" before a long trip. I am concerned about rhe plugs I took out. I have a 03 4.7 Dak. I have installed a catback system from JBA, the K&N Intake kit and have the superchips program installed. When I took out the old plugs they were white, and I am pretty sure that means the engine is running lean. It runs Ok, but if it is running too lean then I would like to find out why and fix it. I have read that the stock injectors are not all that grat but am not sure if that would couse my problem or not. Anybody out there have any ideas??

Message: Dan I doubt you have a problem. The new stuff dosen't seem to color the plugs like the old engines used too. Mainly cause they're running much more efficiently. If you richen it up to the point of seeing brown plugs it will kill the fuel mileage for sure.
My old 93 Dak with the 318 and quite a few mods barely showed any color on the plugs and it ran great. 14.50's at 95 mph consistantly so there was no problem there.
I pulled the plugs on my 02 Dak with the 4.7 and they were white also and it runs fine.
