yeah. There are plenty of GOOD guys who are not registered members. TexasTodd is one of them.
bad thing is someone will impersonate someone else to be a jerk. Most of the guys you can tell who they are by their posts.
Maybe if it was FREE to register more people would. But they got to pay for the site so I didn't complain.

I believe Texas Todd even though I don't think that car was even taken to redline before shifts.

Well. I beleive him when he says he won.
I don't think he's saying he could beat all G35's. He just said he raced his sister or whoever it was and he beat them. A race is sometimes more than just car vs. car vs. truck
when you've always got different drivers.

I have an 03 cav auto trans cherrybomb muffler k&n intake and b&m shift plus It wasnt any form of boost that is how these things run a little slow on take off but when you get up to 2nd gear at 3000rpm the tone changes and they take off till 6000rpm kind of like the power band of a two stroke they can be wicked fast if you can keep the rpms in that range I have raced dakotas and they get me off the line but once i hit 2nd gear i catch up and once i hit 3rd im gone these are awesome engines they react very well to mods bigger than usual increases in performance but no it wasnt nitrous he just beat you

Old post :P

My brother still thinks he will take me with his 2003 Cavalier.

The ecotech does run good at high RPM's. SImilar to a V-Tec Honda.

It would possibly be close. With my current mods there is no way his car would take me from a dead stop and through an intersection. But given the chance who knows, I could still get passed at higher speeds. Especially as aerodynamics comes to play.

I told my bro just to bring it to the race track, then we can see. WHo knows. My truck isn't all that fast in the 1/4. IN the 1/8 it don't do too bad though.

I asked a friend of a friend to come to the track this year with his cobalt SS. I wanted to spank him bad... He didn't show up. He knew what i had in my truck and i think I scared him off. I would like to see one of those things go at the track though.... I've heard they're quick, the Neon SRT4 is quicker so i've heard and I've beat them. Nice close races though. Before my mods I raced an 2001 cavy Z24 5spd and beat him, and I got a quad cab auto.... can't see any older cavy touching a V8 Dak!!

My brother had a 96 cavalier with the 2.4 DOHC. That little sucker would FLY! It was a 4 door auto, and it really surpised me for a 4cyl econo-box.. I would like to run one with my 4.7, but the cavy bit the dust before I bought my 00 dak.

I dont own or ever plan on owning a Dodge SRT-4, but I find it hard to believe that someone would lose to a dakota in a car that has 230 hp, 250 pf, limited slip (all stock) and half the weight of a dak ...I am not saying anyone is wrong...I just think someone would have to be a really, really bad driver to lose that race. Maybe it was a regular neon with fancy decals... :)

2000 4.7 auto Quad Cab,,,, Kenne Bell S/C, 4.10's. I guess i forgot to mention. I don't think a close to stock dak would have a chance. I did, however, beat the Z24 while close to stock.

I know a friend had a 98 4 door 2.2 Cav auto and I'd spank that thing liek nothing.

The 2003 2.4 ecotech my brother has is a lot faster. the 2003 has a 4 speed auto. the 98 still had the 3 speed auto's. 5 speed manual makes a difference on any 4 banger over the auto.

Hey graphite, theres a really good chance that he did have nitrous, but its also possible that is just the variable valve timing. My girlfriend has an 01 celica (yeah its slow lol), but at about 4500 rpms the vvt-i kicks in and its starts to pull harder (still slow). but mostly it just changes the sound of the motor drastically. It starts to change the pitch of the sound but it also gets louder (stock exhaust, but it does get noticably louder). Just a thought :-)

Well, it WAS an old post brought back up.
Them light 2 door versions with a manual and VV timing are probably not much slower than a stock GT.

I'd think I could take that guy better now. Definitely out of the hole and across an intersection with my current set up since LAST YEAR when I started this thread. Cav's, Hemi Ram's, I don't care. They wont take me to 60 any more :)

If you eat 5.0 and 4.6 stangs then you have some work done the cav vs dak is stock vs stock, hell I can make a chevy vega beat a viper if I wanted to but that don't count.

Yup. No matter what you do and how fast you make it. Someone else is always faster and always has more money.

Don't you just hate that?

My original post was more about how much BETTER the last generation of them silly Cav's are then their previous ones, rather than how quick my truck would be. A Cav isn't something I'd typically WANT to compare my truck to :P
