Message: Don't go with a Mopar unit!! I'm in the process of looking for a better replacement for my slipping factory lsd on my '00 QC. I've found a few good deals on Ebay, but any truck supply outlet or even Summit and Jegs have good deals. You need to know what size your rear is for starters. I have a 9.25 rear, but I think there is even a 8.25 that was standard. You may want to consider a locking unit which I believe is more durable for street "racing".

Message: A posi will actually eliminate smoke, btw... it'll make your truck hook-up much better though, and are definitely a way to get faster!

Message: you might want to consider what figols is saying cause i traded a older man my 3.55 for his 3.92 factory mopar unit that was a posi. it lasted me about 2 years and it quit locking in both wheels. i tore it down and it had broken discs and the axle on driver side was warped. which was probably my fault. im going with a powertrax unit.

Message: I always thought that a "Positraction" unit was made for and used in General Motors vehicles. Not sure about you guys, but I don't have a GM rear axle in my Dakota.

Message: LSD, Positraction, Tracloc, Sure Grip, Anti Spin are all the same to my knowledge. Different manufacturers call them different names, but to my knowldege all are the same limited slip type rears. Although, I just recently was told that Dodges Tracloc MAY be a locking rear, but I don't know for sure personally. I Know my '00 has the POS "Anti Spin" rear which was the only option above standard available and it is an LSD rear. I think in Dodges case they keep changing the name of it just to make you think that they made it better, but it is still the same POS 9.25 rear that has been around since the 70's.

Message: GM's posi units can wear out too, reverting to an open rear - its not just the mopars. Looking for gears recently, I noticed many of the gear vendors are wrongly referring to mopar carriers as "posi", probably leading to more people mistakenly calling our rears "posi". Can't escape the giant "Generic Motors".

Message: Figols,
your '00 has a Dana Trac Lok.. while it says "anit-spin" on the build sheet, it's infact a Dana Trac Lok. They are a clutch style limited slip device.. not a locker.

Message: Im think of going 4.10 with my 3.7 5spd. Just wondering do I need to get a new bearing install kit when i put the gears or Auburn LSD in it? I only have 5500 miles on it. Im modded it so I need the LSD badly, cant run much with my peg leg spinning all the time.

Message: I have found out that I have the 8.25 in my '95
So what do I need to look for when buying a locker?
My tires could stand a little less spin!
And my clutch too!
