Message: I just purchase a Helix throttle body spacer for my 2000 dak w/4.7 from JCWhitney. 90 bucks. I do feel a better throttle response on midrange rpm. I'm waiting to see how the gas milage will be. Supose to get up to 4 more mpg's. If you don't mind it, you can also hear a slight swooshing of air going through the spacer. Kind of sounds like I have a turbo. I do have a cold air intake also which doesn't muffle the sound like the stock intake. I did e-mail the manufacturer and they said that sound was normal.
It deffinalty takes of when I tromp on it.

Message: I've kept up with those past threads for years, and that's not exactly what they say. What they really say is that TB spacers don't work for the other motors, but may for the 4.7. That said, I don't believe anyone has dynoed that mod alone on a 4.7, so its tough to know if it helps the 4.7 or not. Several have claimed it does. I would definitely not expect to see an extra 4 mpg though; I'd bet $$$ against doughnuts on that !

Message: actually every post ive read the people that owned them said they had a gain. i dont know but they can sound cool and people that dont know much about motors can do a little something to it! i personally would not buy it i would do a throttle body. but ive had a spacer before but it was on my 4 wheeler that had a carburator.

Message: The key work is 'carburator'.
With port fuel injection there is virtualy no benefit to the TB Spacer, with a carb there is. The air passing through the spacer helps to keep the atomized fuel in suspension with a carb. With injection at the cylinder, the spacer just looks nice sitting under the throttle body.
Dyno of my 5.9 saw no change in installing the spacer.
I have a FastMan reworked throttle body and I'm happy with the results. Non specific dyno number, but I don't have any 'rushing sound' with the air charge any more, so the smothing and dehorning worked well. I'm sure it helps with the Autorotor as well.

Message: I have to agree with DOC. I had one on my 3.9 and saw no difference, just made a hissing sound under hard acceleration. I know you have a 4.7 but like DOC said, they work for Carberated engines. Since these engines are fuel injected right into the cylinder the vortex of the air doesn't do much. There have been many posts about this, so I would also suggest doing a search. Good luck though. If anyone wants a 3.9 spacer you can basically have mine, just collecting dust.

Message: If I could convince myself to pay $90 for a $5 aluminum spacer, I could convince myself that I gained some horsepower and better throttle response. Heck, I could even convince myself that the little swirly kind create eight seperate vorticies which seperate on entering the manifold, make a right angle turn, enter each individual runner, go up and over the top of the manifold, go swirling past the injector and like a tornado, carry the mixture into the combustion chamber.
Hey, come to think of it, doesn't that sound like a great advertising gimmick? I think I'll start production right away. I just have to come up with one that divides the air into six seperate helical swirls for the V6 guys.

Message: TBS does not work on fuel injection, see DOC's post. It is simple physics. TBS used to work with carburators as did tunnel ram manifolds. The concept was give the fuel and air more time to intermix. In todays engines the fuel is injected into the cyl. as a mist after the air enters the chamber and is compressed. All mixing takes place in the cyl. so having the air travel extra space etc does nothing. Don't buy the spinning bs either no air currents are preserved throgh the small opening in which air is vacuumed through on the downstroke. TBS are a waste of money.

Message: Hey now, easy on the 'It Don't work' thing. You know and I know it doesn't work, hell I tell every person that asks to buy one at the place I work that they are useless. But they insist on buying them. If they are so inclined to be stupid, I sell it to them. I sell high performance auto parts, and only want to sell high performance parts, but our profit on these little jewels is like 45%, so...........................
