What type of oil is everyone running in the dakotas. I have 2002 R/T and im looking to run a higher performance oil.

I use synthetic oil - Castrol Syntech or Royal Purple. The Royal Purple is hard to find but will give you a couple extra ponies over other oils. I have a supercharged 318 with 169,000 miles and still a very strong motor and no oil burning.

go with mobil 1 full synthetic 10w30 it costs more but you wont be sorry. it is what i use in my 318 and i have 196000 miles used it since 1996

Been using Mobil 1 since my Dakota was new. Easy to find at Wal Mart and cheap if you get the 5 qt jug.

Royal Purple, AmsOil and Mobile 1 are true synthetics. Castrol Syntec is hydro-cracked dino oil.

Castrol Syntec is a group 3 petro-based oil. Nothing against it but if you want a true synthetic then go with a group 4 PAO(Mobil 1) or a group 5 Ester(Amsoil, Redline). Royal Purple is supposed to be a true syn also.
