I just bought a 2000 Dakota R/T extended cab. I love the truck and it's style but I can always go for more. What are some of your favorite mods so far. Thanks

I was looking at going with the M1 intake, larger throttle body, which size?, heads and cam. Should I go for a larger iron head or aluminum? what are some thoughts on that. Also I want my truck to lobe and sound pi$$ed with the rough idle and have torque from idle to about 6000rpm. What cam should I go with. Please help, summer is getting close. Thanks:)

Not asking for much, are you? ;) That's a pretty tall order for any engine, especially a factory smog motor. But it can be done.

You might consider starting fresh with a crate motor, or a complete rebuild. It's expensive, but not as much as you might think for the power levels you can attain. Raised compression, better cams, better timing sets, lighter recipricating assembly, etc, are the keys here. Trying to polish an old stone into a diamond is pretty tough. But if you start out with a diamond, the final polishing is a lot more rewarding.

The big trick is, all your parts have to match each other very well. This only gets done with a lot of research. This kind of research is generally not something the average guy, or most shops, have the time and money to do. For SBF and SBC, it's pretty easy, just pick up the catalog. But for Mopar it's more difficult, but not impossible.

Heck, the local Dodge dealer will sell you a 380hp/410 ft lb crate motor for $3500. That sounds like a lot, but you get better heads, slightly higher compression, a good cam, new block, and an M1 intake. That's a tough deal to beat. And then you can sell your current motor to somebody looking to swap out ther V6.

And don't skimp on the computer programming. If you want it to run good and pass emissions, you'll need to spend the bux for dyno time and a custom flash.

Personally, I'd build my own engine from the ground up, with a lot of parts and advice from experts.

I've looked a lot at KRCperformance and they seem like they're on the right track for mopar engines. They show a lot of their customers rides and those 318's built to 408 strokers and 360's seem pretty bad a$$. Is this a good place to go through or are they not really good? any thoughts would help. Thanks

KRC is great, but I've heard SOME ordering probs have occured, ie, long waits on some parts, but thats going to happen with any parts store, especially when you're talking about a speciallty shop, such as KRC, which only serves the DODge truck market. all my orders have come through pretty fast, outside of the windshield decal I ordered a year ago and haven't recieved yet, they say their on backorder... prices are good, and so is service, they can even do the work for you if you're not into doing it yourself, they're down in Florida, near Cape canaveral...
