i have a 99 5.2 slt auto . lately the fipk is getting loud - sounds like its sucking air out of the whole neighborhood . also continues for a second or 2 when i shut it off . also mileage down to 81/2 9 mpg local driving .. any ideas ?? thanks

Check for a blown belly pan gasket - can you see oil when you look down your TB ?

Sounds like you have a dirty filter to me.
The belly pan thing could be the problem too.
