Subject: SSAutochrome Headers IP: Logged
Message: I was checking out ebay motors and came across SSautochrome, which has stainless headers for $195. From what I take it they are JBA's. How good are they, (who has them) for fit finish. Does anybody know how thick the flanges are, and what size is the collector. I mean if they won't outperform a set of ported 92 manifolds, I might keep savin for the PPH ones (I was quoted $600 for them). Any feed back would be appreciated.

Way down at the bottom of the ebay page for the item you were looking at you will find the following:
" Ask seller a question "
Try it. It works.

Message: O.K. I bought a set and put them on 2 weeks ago. Got a good deal(200 I think). They perform Well on the highway for some extra passing power. The down side is that they sent me the wrong F'ing bolts and the right bolts ended up being socket head or allen bolts. And it is very tight to get the bolts in past the tubes, and tighten them up. Had to cut an allen wrench to get to one of them. Was it worth it? Yea I need the extra flow for future mods. Would I buy from them again? If they gave me the right bolts, Yea. BTW the stainless steel turns to a burnt blue/purple in a matter of seconds. Honestly though I got more of a power increase with a high flow converter and stock manifolds.

Message: Thanks Dakdog, how thick are the flanges, and what size is the collector. I tried asking the seller these questions, but got no reply. Also I'm sure the seller is biased towards their own product, it's nice to have an opinion from someone who bought a set.

Message: The flanges were 3/8 inch. The collector's bolted right up to the factory y pipe on my 99' dakota r/t. I'm not sure of the exact size for the collector.

Message: When you buy el cheapo headers, you are lucky if the only problem you have is that they sent you the wrong bolts. After installation, you look forward to warping and leaky welds.

Message: Well sounds like for now I'll go with the ported 92 manifolds and custom Y-pipe. Has anybody had problems with the PPH headers from ma mopar.
