 Subject: Engine questions

I just got my hands on a 2002 5.9L engine with only 20,000 on it for $850. My question is ... Should I rebuild it to a stock 360 and add performance parts to get more HP or should I build it up to a 402/408.
The cylinders are still perfect I can even still see the crosshatch in the walls. What are all of you opinions....... thx in advance

Asking how to build an engine is a lot like asking, "What tool should I buy?" Without context, it means nothing. What are you putting it in, what trans, what use, what goals, etc?
