Are the intakes really worth it? I must be an idiot because I don't see how they do anything that special. How do they work exactly? Its gotta be more than a tube that sits there. If you wanted more air flow, wouldn't the K&N filter be enough? Some say it is.

Y'know, sometimes you get better answers if you include more detail in your post.
In this case, something like....ENGINE SIZE!
When there is more than one engine option for your vehicle, and you're asking for advice about your engine and how it breathes, knowing that little bit of info can be handy.
Or we can all just assume you don't know, and give more answers like the above.

Consider yourself counseled.

Coolness, I just checked out the post link. So what does FIPK stand for? And the intake really is just a tube, for that much money? I see what some of you guys mean. I have a 4.7 and as basic as my knowledge is about vehicles, though I'm slowly learning, I do know that drop in filter really did make a noticeable difference. I have to give my truck less gas to get the same results, and I get about 1 mpg more than I used to. I hear stuff about peoples gains with intakes and they vary WIDELY, and I was just wondering if any of you more knowledgeable folks could share some facts, which would also hopefully help out the dude who originally posted that wanted an intake for his.
