Message: My 93 dakota needs to be rebuilt. Using oil bad. I plan on doing the rebuild soon, and I would like to improve on fuel economy and performance if possible, but not change a ton of computer and sensors settings (since I know very little about the computer end of an engine. Please suggest manufacturer and parts which I should buy to get the best fuel and performance for the price. Thanks Tim

Message: How many miles on the engine? If it is using a lot of oil, check the plenum gasket in the intake first. That might solve your problem. Depending on the miles, you may also need new valve seals and piston rings.
For a complete rebuild, pull your heads and have a shop check them for cracks. If OK get them ported and cleaned up. Install new hardware and seals. Have the block checked for cracks and bore out the cylinders if needed. New pistons and rods. Replace the oil pump. Complete set of gaskets.
Performance:
M1 Intake
Port your TB or get a 50mm Fastman or billet one
Mopar PCM
Mopar/Thorley headers - best bet for the 93
Mopar R/T cam
1.7 rockers
K&N filter
Autolite plugs - 3923
MSD or Taylor plug wires
MSD ignition and Blaster SS coil
Electric fan conversion
4.10 gears
Underdrive pulleys
You can also check your local junkyards. Might be able to find a good donor engine as well.

Message: that kinda depends on the caliber and velocity of the bullet, doncha think? a .380 or a 9mm maybe, a .50 Browning MG, -even a single round- I don't think so.

Message: Tim Kemp,
Before you decide to rebuild, let me ask how many miles on you 93,318? I was using a quart every 1000, miles on my truck at 30,000 miles till I found out the intake plenum gasket was leaking, I fixed that problem, I now have 110,000 miles on my truck, I can go 3500 miles before it starts to use any oil. To check for a leaky intake plenum gasket, take the air cleaner off the throttle body and open up the throttle plates, shine a flashlight down the intake and check for oil buildup, if you see the oil, yoou have a leaky plenum gasket.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.
