Subject: Steering too Loose IP: Logged
Message: My Dakota's steering seems to be extremely loose and I was wondering if there is anything to tighten it up? I thought that there might be something mechanically wrong with it, but I took it to a mechanic and he changed the ball joints, but it still wonders all over the highway. Any ideas?

Message: Do you think that will help? I figured that it would be something that needed to be replaced or who knows. Thanks for the response.

Message: Yea, check the pitman arm and idler arm...not to mention the tierod ends. Turn the steering wheel far enough to see in the wheel well and then have a friend wiggle the wheel back and forth, repeat of the other side. Oh, yea, and pray it's not tierod ends...mucho dinero. I just went through the Pitman arm replacement...I think it was less than $100 to have it put on (got the part at Advance for less than $40, had a local shop do the install).
