Message: I just bought a set of JBA headers and am waiting for them in the mail. (They're for the 4.7) Has anyone installed them yet on their dakota? How easy is the install and were there any performance gains? Furthermore, I'm going to look into getting a cat-back also. As well as an increase in performance I'd like a slight increase in exterior noise, but as little as possible in the interior. I also do not want a loss in low end torque due to too much loss in backpressure(if this happens). What is the best muffler to use? I prefer Borla, but I'd definitely look into other brands. Most likely I will get a custom job done from a muffler shop since I really love the dual outlet look unless there's a dual outlet cat-back out there that fits my demands. One final question, what size tubing would be best? Thanks and sorry about taking so darn long.

Message: I have a Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow single in dual out. Really like it. 40 Series Delta would be another good choice. Really nice sound outside but fairly quiet in the cab. Have your muffler shop use 2 1/2 inch pipe coming out of the muffler for duals on whatever brand you use. That way you wont loose any backpressure. You can use 3 inch if its a single out.

Message: I was told that a 2 1/4 for dual rear split was optimum for the 4.7

Message: I have the Borla cat-back on my 4.7, sounds great. Not too loud inside, just a nice low rumble and when you get on the gas, anyone to the right of you will definitely hear it. It has 3 inch tubing and a polished tip, looks good. I def recommend it

Message: I did a lot of research on the cat-backs before I bought mine. All of my vehicles have always had duals but I found out that best power gain was coming from single 3" systems. Thats one of the reasons most of the exhaust companies only make a single out cat-back system. I know, someone will argue and say that space is the reason. Believe me, there is plenty of room for a side exit dual system. Also, remember that mandrel bends are much better than what your average muffler shop can custom bend for you. As far as sound goes, I have the Flowmaster cat-back and it sounds real good. It's not that loud compared to my other vehicles and there is hardly any interior resonance. Hope this helps.

Message: Mandrel bent is indeed the way to go -vs- a press bend from a muffler shop.
I also did some research and quite a few phone calls...was told for the 4.7 that using 2 1/2 inch dual mandrel bent pipes was the way to go.
I then did some research on mufflers and Flowmaster sold me on their SUV Performance 50 Series muffler...bigger casing -vs- their 40/50 delta/regular mufflers, more flow, deeper sound at idle, great sound at WOT, minimum interior noise.
The sell one with a single 2 1/2 inch inlet, dual 2 1/4 outlets (no dual 2 1/2 inch outlest)
I had a muffler shop find a custom mandrel bent 2 1/2 inch dual system he dumped into 3 inch chrome tips. Looks and sounds great.

Message: the stock manifolds flow great for any none super charged/bored/stroked/ or modified intake manifold engine setup. headers are about the last thing i would install...AND i read a test that was done once that said JBA's actually flow worse than the stock exhaust manifolds.

Message: I was wondering if the 5.2L with straight duals out the back would sound better than the 4.7L with mufflers?Mine has a very deep and throaty sound I do not know anybody around mine neck of the woods with the 4.7L.I love my 5.2L but may in the future get a 4.7L.Was just curious,Thanks!
