Hi, my name is Moacyr, Iīm brazilian and I love Dodge. Everybody who watched The Fast and the Furious have a doubt: The race between the Toyota Supra and the Dodge Charger 1969/70 was real? I saw in Discovery Channel that everything didnīt pass a fake. The question is: would a Dodge Charger like that one with 900 horsepowers be able to go up in an hard acceleration? Thanks people.

No it wasn't real (just like the rest of the movie). It smoked the tires while pulling the front tires off the ground, which would be almost impossible to do. Smoke and tirespin are a result of no traction, and a wheelie is a result of traction, its either one or the other, not both. But, im sure under the right conditions a charger with 900hp could definatly pull the front tires off the ground.

probly couldnt get enough traction to do so on a paved road. The amount of power the charger actually had was 600hp i believe the same for the supra

Yeah but in the movie it was supposed to be MORE than 600HP. I remember Vin Diesel's charactor saying "it scares the piss out of me"or something.
Ok so this car has f**king slicks on it launching like a mother out of the hole. Yet that Supra is supposedly right beside it from the hole?
Yeah right. I especially liked all the flames shooting form the tail pipes on them ricers. Stupid movie. It spawned a nation of retards!
