Subject: Above 6psi on a 4.7 IP: Logged
Message: Any one running more than 6psi on their 4.7?? I'm currently running 6psi kenne bell kit on my 2000 4.7. I have no problems with detonation and it's been pretty much worry free. I contacted kenne bell to see what i would have to do to run 8spi. I had thought maybe a flash would be required. They said i don't need a flash to run an 8psi pulley but it is not recommmended as "Dodge's have problems blowing head gaskets." I haven't heard of anyone blowing a head gasket on their 4.7's yet. I'm asssuming the original flash they gave me will compensate for the extra boost(they added a MAF meter to my truck). WHat do you guys think??? I realize whenever you run any kind of boost you run the risk of blowing gaskets, among other things..... Will the stock tensioner "eat up" the extra play in my belt?? Sorry about the long post but just looking for a little advice...

How does it run compared to without?
Oh, and I think Duner runs more than 6 psi with his turbo. 12~14 I THINK was what he ran to do 12's in the 1/4 if I recall correctly.

Message: I run a Paxton S/C with up to 11 psi and don't have any problems as long as enough fuel is being deliverd to the engine. I have had detonation a couple times, but that is because my engine leaned out. I have had my S/C for about 25000 miles. I have hurd about people starting to loose head gaskets around 12-14 psi on the 4.7. It can vary depending on what else you have done to your engine.

Message: I was wondering if i should upgrade the injectors. The kenne bell kit came with two auxillary injectors so the truck has a total of 10. Is it possible for the computer to add more fuel even though the injectors are the same???
Graphite Dak.... the truck is sweet... i have the quad cab auto and with the extra weight i've only managed a 14.7 in the 1/4. Never ran it before but you can really feel the extra power. I dynoed before at 196hrs and 260lbs/ft. After was 267hrs and 317lbs/ft. I like the fact also that i can control the boost. I can drive around all day staying out of boost but when i want it hit the pedal and its there.
So do you guys think the belt will work. Its run on a single belt... I'm thinking the tensioner should pull out the extra "slack" due to the new smaller pulley... i don't think the difference is very much at all.

Message: I have software that I can use to program the amount of fuel being injected and the amount of timing being taken out. I have also increased the size of the two supercharger injectors from 42 lbs to 71 lbs injectors. I don't know how the Kenne Bell s/c work, but if you can't program the computer, I would think you would have to increase the size of the injectors. I don't know about your belt.
