Message: totally agree.
the design for the charger that is coming out is a bit ugly. looks like a cross between a 300c and a stratus.

Message: Um Dodge never made the gto that was a pontiac! And the concept Charger a few years ago was also a four door. They are making it a four door becouse no one is buying the two doors (look at all the new GTO's siting on the dealership lots). Hell I am just glad they are making it with 425hp.

Message: Its not much to look at, but it doesn't matter. They don't care if we buy it or not. They are going back after the fleet market that they abandoned at the end of 1989. The Intrepid cop car flopped, so now they have this. Every cop car in the land will be a Dodge and order will be restored. I think calling it Charger fooled a lot of people into thinking it was something its not. Its not the General Lee, but its a good old fashioned tire frying V8 American Badass car!

Message: That said! Dodge needs to look to Ford for how to do retro tyling the right way. The best of the new and old all in one. not just a name plate on a modified family sadan. (what a disapointment the new chargers styling is) my pops was all roared up about the new charger but he said it was not what he thought it would be, and bought a silver 300C Hemi

Message: Ok one good car and now ford is the master of retro styling? It is a good looking car don't get me wrong, but ford did not get it right the first time either look at the thunderbird. And why do all the cars have to be recycled body styles? Plus I was not like dodge did not try to make the chargers to look like the old ones. They tried several times but could not get it to look right

Message: if any of you remember the charger name was started in 66 with a fastback,it was very square, built off the 66 coronet platform and it really did,nt look like the 68-70 chargers...
the 66 charger was a mid yr push to stay with ford and gm mid size
with that said the chrysler 300 came with the hemi well before the first charger was thought of
and was considered a performer back in the 50s
i notice some of you think ford has got something with their mustangs and t-birds restyling.they are nice looking, but do you remember the mustangII or the t-bird off the ford granada platform?
i,m not trying to push my way of thinking or my opinion.i,m just telling you the way things was.
2dr cars are not big sellers now,no matter what we think and the auto makers know it

Message: Not to be picky vern but the first dodge to be called a Charger was in '64 with a concept car based of the polara it was ugly as hell and in the november 2004 issue of hot rod just be thankfull they did not base the new charger styling off that car.

Message: Martin you have a good point about the mustangII and the thunderbird. But they hit the nail on the head with the new Mustang. I just hoped that Dodge could do the same. I don't care if it is the charger. They have had so many body styles and most are ugly with the exeption of the 66(I personaly like OK)and the 68-70. Maybe they need to bring back a Cuda or Challenger. I don't really care but they could make a cool retro car and it would sell. Also it would put the mustang to shame, then again so will some Dakotas.
