Subject: 2003 modified stock reg cab r/t IP: Logged
Message: I read an article on trucktrend.com. The article talks about a dakota r/t for the last year (2003) in production. It states the the reg cab model comes stock with different performance parts for the previous year. Are all 03 r/t's come modified stock? Here is the link if you want to check out the article

Message: my understanding is that they produced a couple of those with the heads and cam package towards the end of production.
heads and cam..sure more hp but then you lose a lot of low end needing gears, stall convertor, i see no mention of headers and they only upgraded the cat back..and i guess they stayed with the stock throttle body..no mention of a mopar pcm or increased shift point rpm to use the top end they gained.
to me it sounds like a sales geek approved the enhancement package and it probably just pissed the performance techs off for not doing it the way it should/could have been done.

Message: I'm gonna have to wave the BS flag on that one. There may have been some dealer installed packages, but you couldn't order straight from DMC like that and there's a very slim chance that DMC would allow there MP parts to go on the production-run vehicles.
