 Subject: Displaying service codes?

Having some problems, i believe its related to the transmition(of course). What do i do to find out if its throwing a code.? I have a list of what the codes mean, i just dont know what to do to get it to show up. (turn ignition on and off 3 times, etc.??) Its a 99 v6 4x4.

Besides doing the ignition on off deal, Autozone
and maybe others will hook up their hand helds
into your I/O port and pull any trouble codes for
free.
I used them and found a 02 problem right away.

I don't think the ignition trick works with '99, not sure, I'm thinking '00 and up ?
