Subject: RE: 4.7 beating an R/T IP: Logged
Message: Its because there is a relcutor wheel inside the rear. It senses axel RPM for the anti- lock brake system and reports to the computer . The gear change won't affect it but the tires change it because the reluctor wheel speed doesnt change but the truck is travaling faster with taller tires.
Hows that??

Message: TexasTodd, unless I missed something, I thought all the 4.7's delivered through 8 1/4" rears, which are about 75 pounds lighter than the 9 1/2". MoparDave had an '00; if it was an auto, it was a 4-speed. The low early ratios in the "5-speed" auto seemed to help the 4.7 beat the R/T in the "Mopar Now" article, in spite of 3:55 behind the 4.7.

Message: Many 4.7s came with the heavier duty 9 1/4" rear. Mine did. Maybe you are thinking of the all wheel drive models that never see all the power to the rear axle alone ?
