 Subject: 1987 Rear End Swap

I have an 87 Dakota that I put a 318 in 6 years ago. My question is Can I put a rear end from a newer Dakota in this? I know the original 7 1/4 is not going to last very long. Thanks

87-96 all will work,4x4s mount under the springs,
4cyl daks had the 7 1/4s,
v6s & v8s had 8 1/4s,
R/Ts had 9 1/4s
some cars will work also,measure center bolt to center bolt
i,m not sure on the width from 97 up
