Message: Over the winter I am going to rebuild the 318 in my Shelby Dak. ( already have a new tranny with higher stalls speed converter etc. installed. For the cam, I am going to use the levell 2 Comp Cams roller cam for that engine. I already have true dual exhaust on the truck. I want (or need) to run a Jet computer (only one's who make a module for late 80's Dodge trucks). The question is, since they don;t list a Shelby Dak specifically, should I use the one for the 89 full size 318 or the 91 318 Dak? I am thinking the 89 full size. What TB mods can I make. Can I adapt it to a Holley pattern intake manifold? I know I can if the TB has the same mounting as a Holley 2bbl carb.

Message: All engine maintenance and specs are to referred to as the same as for the Dodge D150 pickup for 1989, so yes, go with the full size.
Mods? Not much. Maybe some cleanup for flow, but for major gains, you need the TBI for 360. MP actually offered this as an "offroad" upgrade for the 318 back in the day. The 360 unit flows more air, and requires the intake to be opened up just a bit so the throttle blades will have clearance. Summit racing sells a generic adapter plate, and you'd need that to mate it to a convention bolt pattern. These particular TBI's (made by Holley for Mopar)have an offset pattern, and don't fit anything else as far as I know.
One other option is to go with a Holley aftermarket 670cfm unit and their controller. They even have an option to run with O2 sensor feedback control, just like the stocker. Also, they have a standard bolt pattern, not an offset like the stockers.

Message: B&G Chrysler have PCMs for the SHELBYs,$499
[at lease i should say they did]
this will be a better up-grade then a jet chip,
Eldelbrock are building tbi units now for less money than Holley
if you can,t find a adapter for the tbi you can build one from a piece of 1/2" or 3/4" thick alum. using old gaskets as temp plates, drill and tap the alum. for the tbi bolts, drill out the bores[throttle plates]now if you have a after-market intake center adapter and mark bolt holes drill these out
for $10-15, a hour or two,you have just built a adapter that will work on a after-market 4bbl intake
first does your shelby have a o/d trans? if it does than check with jet first before buying the chip, because i don,t think the 89 rams full size came with the o/d trans and the chip may not let your trans shift into o/d

Message: I have a '91 318 Dak, and just found a throttle-boby off an '89 360.
My question is, instead of having to bore out the intake so the throttle blades will have clearence, would getting a throttle-body spacer suffice?, also I read many times here and on other boards that they're just an expensive paper weight. I see them being useless for the "mag. motors" but how well would they work on a "pre-mag."?
Thanks

Message: i don,t no,they may work good because the tbi is a wet system like a carb.
i guess to fine out you,ll have to try it,because most on here have mpi, which the spacer don,t seem to help

Message: A spacer will allow the 360 TBI throttle bores to clear (it will need mods to fit the offset bolt pattern of the TBI), and, since it's a wet manifold (like carbureted manifolds, and not like Magnum dry intakes), it will move the powerband up a few hundred rpm's, which can only help when winding out those suffocated engines. Spacers are useless on dry air-only manifolds like the Magnum (MPI-style).

Message: OK I now know I need a spacer to clear the throttle plates. I also know that I will have to fabricate that or an adapter to mont the tb to a 4bbl manifold as none are available. What about headers. Which ones will work best?
